Join us on April 21, 2017 as the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation will match gifts at 50% for donations made to participating area nonprofit endowment funds, including ours at the Boys & Girls Club.
In 2017, the Boys and Girls Club of Manhattan served 2,638 youth in Manhattan and Wamego. Daily, 810 youth on average find a caring mentor and adult waiting to help them at the Club. With the help of the Club, families have a safe, fun and educational place for their children before and after-school, In--service days, and during Spring and Summer school breaks.
34% of USD 383 (Manhattan/Odgen) students
16% of USD 320 (Wamego) students
36% of our members receive Free or Reduced Lunch Services
30 % of our members are from single parent homes
14% of our members are from military families
Over the summer of 2016 we ensured our students experienced a "Summer Brain Gain" instead of the "Summer Learning Loss".
70% of members participating in summer programming scored at or above their state testing scores when returning to school in the fall.
* The average student is recorded as having a 25% loss as a result of Summer Learning Loss.
Services provided by the Boys & Girls Club are reduced to ensure affordability for our families.
The cost to the Club is $1,260 per year
School Year fees for before- and after-school programs are $430.
The Club must work with local donors, grants and fundraising events to make up the difference. A difference of $830 per child!
